Greek Souvlaki Catering

A few weeks ago we got to try out the catering services from Greek Souvlaki in Murray. It was so good I will definitely be using them again in the future!

Greek Souvlaki had everything ready for me including plates, napkins, silverware and serving utensils. Everything was taken care of for me. Talk about a stress free dinner party!

And of course the food was delicious! The pictures just don't do the food justice. Even my picky children loved it.

The Greek salad was full of fresh ingredients and was very large.

With hearty portions everyone was full and we still had leftovers.

Take the stress out of your holiday parties and use Greek Souvlaki catering. Delicious food, great prices and completely stress free. Sounds like a win to me!

For every $50 spent in catering menu items you earn $5 gift cards too.

The Choice is yours... At Chuck A Rama!

By Kim Cracroft

Chuck A  Rama has been around for quite sometime!   This family owned business started back in 1966 and is still going strong with over 12 locations to visit.  We all have a Grandpa or Grandma, perhaps an Uncle that loves this place.   For me, its my Dad...  I have fond memories of going to this restaurant with my family.  My dad would take all of us there for a birthday, or for a big family get together.

Chuck A Rama is celebrating their 50th anniversary!  I was able to attend a pre celebration for this restaurant where we learned how Chuck A Rama got its name, (visit their website and watch the little video) How long ago this restaurant was started, and where Chuck A Rama is today.  We were able to watch how they make all things fresh there.   They bake all things in house the day of,  and are made from scratch.  We were fortunate enough to see how they make there cinnamon pull aparts! YUUUM!

The salad bar offers fresh options of pretty much everything you need to make the perfect salad, not to mention they have so many choices for lunch and dinner.  They had everything...out of the oven roast beef, turkey, homemade soups, fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, veggies and my personal, favorite the slow roasted kettle turkey with potatoes and carrots. They have Mexican cuisine, Chinese  cuisine, kids personal favorites included pizza, french fries, mac and cheese, spaghetti... the list goes on and on and on.  I cant stress enough how fresh everything was!

The drink station offers both Coke and Pepsi products, local apple beer , an original Icee machine with 2 flavors, hot cocoa, etc.   Where else can you go and have over 20 options for food and drink?   Sounds like a win win to me.

Last but not least, the dessert bar.   Everything from Grandmas homemade rice pudding and lava cake, to self serve soft serve ice  ream, endless choices of cakes and brownies...  what else am I missing?

You don't have to be from the older generation to frequent this place.   Take the kiddos there, meet a friend there for lunch,  celebrate your next birthday there,  don't be a stranger...  the staff is so friendly and the restaurant is top notch clean.  I promise this restaurant will not disappoint...  Go give it a try...  The choice is yours, at Chuck A Rama!

PAC- Penny Ann's Cafe

Breakfast food is one of my favorite things so of course I am always happy to find a restaurant that serves a great breakfast and that my friends is where Penny Ann's Cafe comes in.

Penny Ann's has locations in Salt Lake, Draper and Taylorsville.  They are open seven days a week from 7:00 am to 2:30 pm at all locations.

I have heard many people rave about the Heavenly Hotcakes at Penny Ann's and they were right! They were delicious! You can't go to Penny Ann's and not get a stack of these yummy pancakes.

We loved the French Toast and would order them again and again. They are perfect as is (dusted with cinnamon and powdered sugar) or order the stuffed French Toast.

Penny Ann's has a big omelette menu. We ordered the Washington, packed full of sausage, ham and bacon. Yum!
Their bacon is thick and tasty, even in their omelettes.

You also need to try their pies and quiche. You won't regret it.

Geckos Live at Natural History Museum of Utah

By Kim Cracroft

Tucked away on Wakara Way located in Salt Lake City, is the Natural History Museum of Utah. It's simply put... Amazing!
There is so much to look at and so many things to do... The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable about their surroundings! It is for all ages 1 to 100.

Right now til May they have an exhibit they are featuring called "Geckos Live" and It did not disappoint! You walk into the exhibit and you are whisked away on an totally awesome adventure of finding the camouflaged geckos in their habitats. They are hiding in rocks or tree branches, sliding down the windows and they are very still so looking for them can sometimes be tricky. They have a sign on each exhibit telling you how many geckos to look for... My littles thought that was pretty fun!

They have a wonderful cafe' and a fun gift shop you can peruse after making your way through the museum! After we did the gecko exhibit, we went and looked at the dinosaur exhibit, brushed away dirt to find artifacts, and played in the sand to dig up Dino bones.
Overall it was a really good time! We have been a time or two before, but you can never visit this place too much... They offer memberships, day passes and children parties. Hope you get to visit soon!

We are giving away 4 tickets to the Natural History Museum of Utah on our Instagram. Go there to enter.

Storybrook Play Cafe

A quaint little play place for children opened up not too long ago in Millcreek and we had to check it out.

Storybrook Play Cafe is an indoor play place that both kids and parents love. It's great for parties, small get togethers or just a fun time. There are pint size playhouses, a ball pit, a mini puppet theater, cars, dolls, and toys galore. The play area caters to kids under 6 years old.

Everything is really clean and they ask that everyone wears socks to help keep it that way.

The cafe serves, beverages, smoothies, healthy snacks and more. It's the perfect place for parents to visit with friends while the kids play, get a little work done or even get down on the floor and play with your little ones.

The themed play events are really fun too. They have had Scales and Tails visit, princesses, Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and many other fun themed play dates. Follow Storybrook Play Cafe on Instagram for more information.

Order Gourmet Burgers at Kiosks inside Utah McDonald's

By Victoria Saley from obSEUSSed

If you haven't been to McDonald's this month, you'll be surprised at the changes you'll see inside. Utah is a test market to try a new dining experience and when I tried it this month, I can tell you this is a game-changer for McDonald's.

Marissa and I had fun trying out the kiosk.

Walk inside your local McDonald's and you'll notice the Create Your Taste touchscreen kiosk (60+ restaurants will offer this in Utah by the end of 2015. It is brand new!). It allows you to customize your perfect burger. In addition to the traditional sesame seed bun, there are now options like artisan breads, ciabatta rolls and lettuce wrapped burgers. You can make it any way you want.

To tell you the truth, the only negative thing I could notice is that it took a little longer to order at first because I wanted scroll through to see all the 20+ toppings like guacamole, sriracha mayo, chili lime tortilla strips, caramelized onions and more.  The first time you try it, just plan to take your time to see all the options. Once you know the basics, you'll be a pro in no time.

Pay at the kiosk and they deliver your food to your table in stylish wire baskets. It takes 5-10 minutes for them to freshly prepare the food but I enjoyed my time waiting as I sipped on my soda, looked at my phone (gotta love that free wi-fi at McD) and watched my kids play in the play land. The 2nd and 3rd visits I ordered for just myself (not my whole family), the order was done just under 5 minutes.

It was so much fun customizing my burger to my taste. I tried a gourmet burger on an artisan roll with pepper jack cheese, guacamole and Sriracha mayo.  Yes, it had a kick! You can tell a difference in the meat and how it is prepared. They have a separate grill to pan sear the burgers. McDonald's explained each restaurant has hired 2-3 additional staff to run Create Your Taste, (including a chef to run the grill) so computers are not replacing jobs.

I was so impressed with this new gourmet burger dining experience at McDonald's.
I'm excited Utah is one of the few test markets to start offering Create Your Taste.  Look for the logo outside your McDonald's. Check this link for a location near you: Create Your Taste Locations
