Replica of Michelangelo's Pieta
Did you know that inside Christ United Methodist Church in the Millcreek area is a replica of Michelangelo's Pieta? The 6400 pound marble sculpture is one of two known replicas in the United States.
The original is a sculpture by the renaissance master Michelangelo Buonarroti. It is housed in St Peters Basilica in Vatican City. The famous work of art depicts the body of Jesus on the lap of his mother Mary after the Crucifixion.
This is a fun, free exhibit that is open year round for all to enjoy. You can learn more about the Pieta here or you can request a free docent by calling (801) 486-5473.
