Rowley's South Ridge Farms Big Red Barn

A visit to South Ridge Farm's Red Barn in Santaquin Utah is must, especially this time of the year.  They have fresh apples, peaches, corn on the cob and so much more.  The store also features delicious jams, jellys, candy, gifts and gift baskets and delicious ice cream.  Make sure you take home some of their fresh apple juice too.

Each fall they feature hayrides to the pumpkin patch to pick out your own pumpkin.  The hayrides started last weekend. They run each weekday from 3:30 - 8:00 pm.  

If you don't get a chance to head out there, they also sell dried fruit, preserves and more at their online store.

Take I-15 to Exit 242 and go west to the Frontage Road (now named South Ridge Farms Road) and go north one mile - just look for the Big Red Barn!

I have lived in Utah for a little over four years now. It feels like so much longer! Haha.

Favorite local restaurant?

I’m going to go with Moochies. I know they’re most known for their meatball subs, but I can’t get enough of their cheese steaks  and cream soda. Mmm. Don’t even get me started on their brownies.

Favorite places to shop in the Salt Lake Valley?

I have a secret obsession with Tabula Rasa. What can I say? Stationary is my weakness. Oh and speaking of weaknesses, I really love RubySnap.

Best thing about Salt Lake/Utah?

The farmer’s market in Pioneer Park, hands down, is the best thing about Salt Lake. I go almost every week during the summer to buy all of my produce for the week. I love that you can buy everything that you need, locally, in one central location.

Anything else you want to add?

I really enjoy living in downtown Salt Lake. I love that the city is busy and bustling, but that it’s also small and welcoming. It’s that perfect mixture that so many cities try to achieve, but very few actually accomplish.

Childrens Interactive Exhibit at the Church History Museum

Earlier this year the Church History Museum opened a new interactive children's exhibit, A Book of Mormon Fiesta: A Latin-American Celebration. This free exhibit will run through January of 2013.
The exhibit is full of fun activities for kids of all ages and everything is very hands on.

Kids love going fishing and catching magnetic fish in the boat.

There are giant blocks, interactive touch screens full of games and puzzles, a play kitchen,

play characters, music, a play chicken coop and much more.

 One of our favorite parts of the exhibit was dressing up in 

traditional Latin American costumes and dancing. 

The kids couldn't get enough of this.

No matter your religion, your kids are sure to have fun at this free exhibit.

Seaon Opener U of U Football

Today is the day University of Utah fans have been waiting for.  It's the season opener for the football season.  That's right, the Utes are in the all new PAC-12.  Tonight they play Montana State at Rice-Eccles Stadium at 6:00 p.m.   The game will be televised on KJZZ TV-channel 14 and Comcast channel 3 here in Salt Lake City.

But the festivities start earlier than that. The Ute Walk begins at 3:30 pm (2-and-a-half hours prior to each game).  The team gets dropped off at the corner of 500 South and Guardsman Way. Line the route down 500 South to Rice-Eccles Stadium to show the team your support. The Marching Band will lead the team and the Spirit Team will have T-shirts to throw to the crowd.

So whether you'll be seating in the stadium or watching the game at home on tv, today's a great day to pull out your Crimson and wear it proudly.  Fly your U flag. It's officially Utah football season! Go Utes!
