Sky Bake Delivery Cakes

We recently had a chance to try out some of the yummy cupcakes from Sky Bake Deliveries.
Sky Bake Deliveries is a Utah based company that specializes in mail order cakes. They bake, package and deliver tasty cakes from Utah Valley.

Utah residents will receive their cake the day after they are shipped. And better yet, when you send something to the MTC in Provo they guarantee same day delivery if ordered before noon.

The cakes come in a few different sizes so you can choose the one that fits your needs best. Sky Bake offers seven flavors of cake and five different kinds of frosting. Of course they also offer custom cakes as well as pie.

We taste tested the Cocoa Fo Sho, Killa Vanilla, Yellow Yum Yum and Lemon Squeezy. We enjoyed them all but our very favorite was the Lemon Squeezy! If you like lemon, this is the cake for you! It is even made with real lemons, no artificial flavoring here.

All of the frosting flavors and cakes we delicious! We can't to get some more Sky Bake Deliveries!

Have you tried Sky Bake? What did you think?

The Baking Hive

We recently stopped into the new bakery The Baking Hive in East Millcreek. We had such a great time that we had to share The Baking Hive with you.

Owner Elisa went to culinary school in England but started baking as a child with her grandma. Elisa's love for baking shows in everything at The Baking Hive. Elisa is such a delight to chat with and makes you feel as if you have been friends for years.

The Baking Hive serves whole pies, cakes and pavlova or you can buy them by the slice. Make sure to check out their monthly specials too. We also love their short-bread sugar cookies, Dirty Jonnys and my personal favorite, the Caramel Jaguar Bars! Even my toddlers gobbled them up.

One of our favorite things about The Baking Hive (besides the delicious goodies of course) is the Kids Decoration Hive where kids receive their own bakers hat and they get to frost and decorate their own cookie or cupcake.

Elisa is so great with kids and has dedicated this special spot in her shop for kids. It is so fun, your kids are sure to have a great time while you sit and enjoy a tasty treat.

The Baking Hive also offers adults and children's cooking classes. All recipes are made from scratch. And I can't forget to mention that they also host birthday parties!
See store for details.

Don't take our word for it, head to The Baking Hive and check it out for yourself.

New York Take and Bake Pizza {Sugar House}

  By Victoria Saley from obSEUSSed

New York Take and Bake Pizza Co. of Utah opened a new location in Sugar House just before Christmas.

You can find them at 675 E 2100 S next to Kid to Kid off of 700 East. They also have a location in Fort Union.

You can order by phone (801-487-6591), online or by their app (search New York Take and it pulls up). They make it fresh, customized for you, then just stop by to pick it up and bake it at home.

You’re probably wondering how this place is different than the other take and bake pizza place in the neighborhood.  Well, New York Take & Bake is locally owned and operated. It has some similar items to the chain but there are more unique specialty pizzas and a larger variety of salads, not to mention flavored Italian sodas.

Their ingredients are all fresh and locally sourced.  They don’t get their food off a truck like other chain restaurants.  They have five different salads to choose from. My family loved the pasta salad.  I normally try to make a salad at home to go along with our pizza when we order it, but at this price ($6-$7/fed 4 of us) it is much cheaper than if I bought all the ingredients myself (and much tastier). I want to try their spinach poppy seed salad next. I would order these just to go with other meals at home or grab one to split for lunch.

We tried the Margherita and the Chicken BLT pizzas.  Instructions say to cook them until lightly brown on the edges and top of cheese. It turned out just right. The Margherita has huge slices of mozarella and had a sweet, tangy sauce. The Chicken BLT has the alfredo sauce and bacon. You had me at Bacon! The touches of spinach and feta really set this apart.

All their pizzas have the New York style thin crusts. The owner, John, has owned and cooked at the Italian restaurant, Michelangelo’s for 11 years. He grew up just outside of New York City and has always loved thin crust pizza. He started developing new recipes and tried them out with friends and family and finally decided to create the New York Take & Bake Pizza Co. They opened in Fort Union early last year and have done well so they recently started the Sugar House location.
