Celebrating Our One Year Anniversary With One Sweet Slice

I Heart Salt Lake turned one this week! Can you believe it has been a year already?
To celebrate we headed to One Sweet Slice in South Jordan. We have talked about One Sweet Slice before.

Owner Janell welcomed us to her beautiful shop and had quite a spread set up for us. We had festive French macaroons, cupcakes (I don't even want to tell you how many I ate) and flavored hot chocolate.

 We want to thank One Sweet Slice for hosting our little celebration and for everyone who came.

Cold Springs Trout Farm

Fishing involves gear, a fishing licence and hours of waiting, right? Some people think that's the best part, the quite, the time, the waiting... but not kids, at least not MY kids. My kids like catching fish immediately! They also like seeing and feeding the fish. So when my oldest son started asking about going fishing I started looking around for a fish farm!

I was SO happy to find one close by! Cold Springs Trout Farm is absolutely lovely! The ponds were full, the area was so so SO beautiful! My kids were so happy and had a GREAT time! We not only had fun catching fish, but they sold fish food for 25 cents a FULL cup and the kids spent a ton of time feeding the kids.

You pay by the fish, and they gut them for you (actually my boys favorite part was watching that part!). And for just a bit extra they will also filet them for you (which makes it easy to take home and cook). They also have a fly fishing pond if your interested. They also have two areas for groups, large and small, with grills, tables, etc... Here is their new brochure for more information (and a map)

Sushi Express, Authentic Japanese Cuisine

You’ll find this popular sushi bar tucked away in Sandy, Utah at 7824 South 700 East. Locals know the spot well and often stop for take-out or a sit down meal.


Master Sushi Chef, Manabu Horikawa once worked at Kyoto before opening his own restaurant. Watch him prepare your sushi with  fresh ingredients and precision.

The large menu has photos for each item so you know what to expect. My favorite is the sunset roll with thin lemon slices on top. They also have a Ute Roll with spicy tuna, salmon, shrimp and tempura crumb roll topped with red tobiko. Go UTES!
