University of Utah Football Party Printables

Are you ready for  football season? We are!
To help get you excited for the Utah fottball games we have some free U of U party printables just for you.

one of our contributors, Jacqueline, designed them just for I Heart Salt Lake readers.  We love them and can't wait to throw our own U of U football Bash.

Start with the invitations.

Print out the cute drink wrappers.  They can be used on just about any kind of bottled or canned drink.

There are a bunch of stickers.  We're sure you can find a way to use them.

The printables have mini food flags and

 larger flags for decorating.

However you decide to use these fun printables, we know you'll be supporting one of the things we Heart about Salt Lake, The Utah Utes.  Now lets get ready for game day.  Go Utes!

Utah Football Home Opener

This is the Week!  University of Utah football has their home opener Thursday, August 30th.  At 5:15 pm they will officially kick-off the 2012 season.  The Utes will then play Northern Colorada at Rice-Eccles Stadium.   The game will be televised on the PAC-12 Networks.  Check your local provider for channels.

But the festivities start earlier than that. The Ute Walk begins at 2:45 pm (2-and-a-half hours prior to each game).  The team gets dropped off at the corner of 500 South and Guardsman Way. Line the route down 500 South to Rice-Eccles Stadium to show the team your support. The Marching Band will lead the team and the Spirit Team will have T-shirts to throw to the crowd.

So whether you'll be seating in the stadium or watching the game at home on tv, this week's a great time to pull out your Crimson and wear it proudly.  Fly your U flag. It's officially Utah football season! Go Utes!

Flash Back Friday: Wheeler Historic Farm

6351 South 900 East
The Farm is a restoration of the turn-of-the-century dairy farm of Henry J. Wheeler. Maintaining the farm presents to the public the history of Utah family agriculture. It is a representation of the rural lifestyle in Salt Lake County from 1890-1940 and presents the best farming methods of the Progressive Era. Historic exhibits will take you back in time. Here you may discover the old time farm lifestyle once common for most families in Utah but which is now largely past and gone.

If you have little kids and know they won’t last long,  here are a few tips to make a quick, fun trip to the farm.
1) Park in the South Parking lot and walk up the dirt drive directly to the animals.
2) Go early in the morning—the animals are more active and aren’t sleeping or hiding in their pens.

3) If you are planning on taking the wagon ride- buy your tokens when you first arrive and catch the earliest ride (usually 10:00).
4) Bring old bread to feed the ducks and geese.  You can buy food at the main information desk or at the little store, but the birds won’t eat it.

Wheeler Farm has great picnic areas.  Picnic tables are scattered around the property.  Bring a picnic and enjoy more time with the kids.  If you didn’t plan ahead, that’s okay.  The Country Store carries healthy snacks, lights lunch items and drinks.  Or just stop in for an ice cream treat.

What is your favorite thing at Wheeler Farm?

Citris Grill

Citris Grill in the Canyon Rim area of Salt Lake is serving breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 days a week.  Their food is fresh and delicious, nothing pre-made.  Homemade soups & salads, distinctive wraps & sandwiches, wood-fired specialty pizzas, and mouth-watering entrees are just some of the dining options available.

Citris Grill offers daily specials as well.  We love their daily grilled cheese featuring unique cheeses, fruit or meat.  We haven't been dissapointed with one yet.  We also love their spinach & artichoke dip and the delicious salad combos as well.

You can check out their menus here.
