Grand America Hotel's Afternoon Tea

 By Julie Knaphus

Tucked inside The Grand America Hotel's Lobby Lounge a delightful experience awaits you with their afternoon tea service.  The Grand America serves a traditional English afternoon tea.  If you have never experienced an afternoon tea you should plan to at The Grand America Hotel.

You can enjoy the lavish Grand Traditions Tea, the Afternoon Tea or just a simple tea or hot chocolate.  The Grand America Hotel offers over 25 teas and 4 hot chocolates.  The Afternoon Tea includes a selection of beverage, finger sandwiches, a scone with clotted cream and lemon curd butter, followed by a selection of desserts or french pastries with strawberries and cream.  The Grand Traditions Tea also adds champagne and a selection of cheese and fruit.
The sandwich selection varies daily.

Plan on plenty of time.  We suggest 1-2 hours.  You'll want to sit back, relax, enjoy the live harp or piano music and make the most of your afternoon tea.

Afternoon Tea - Grand America Hotel on Urbanspoon

  1. I've been wanting to go to this forever! Do you know how much it is?

  2. those french pastries look so good. A tea party would beso fun too!

  3. Kristie Lynne-
Afternoon tea is $16 and the Grand Traditions tea is $32

  4. I have always wanted to do sounds like so much fun!

  5. Fun experience! Updated prices are $20 and $38. Love the atmosphere, the coconut almond hot chocolate, and being there. The food is okay, but not the grandest. Doesn't look much like the pictures above. Cream and one strawberry sliced is all that's offered. Pastries are limited to smaller versions now. Homemade gumdrops are unpleasant. Used to have more dessert offerings, but is still a wonderful experience.

  6. Totally the worst English Tea ever!! There quality has gone to the dogs. Most of the goodies are inedible. Price hike is overboard, used to be fantastic. Not ever going again.. How about a refund? GROSS.....

  7. We went yesterday. It was good but overall so sweet and high carb. A sweet strawberry and cream dish to start followed by sweet scones and even sweet sandwiches. A lot of bread.

I'm going to say the kids selection was the worst though. Every sandwich had dark chocolate on it. My 5 year old's birthday selection was two dipped strawberries in you guessed it, dark chocolate. She doesn't like it plus just had a ton of strawberries and chocolate. Why not a small piece of cake? It was weird.

The harp music and surroundings were gorgeous. The food was good but please, lighten up the menu and rethink what you serve to kids.

Next time I'd go to the garden cafe or coffee shop across the street instead.
