The Train Shoppe in Salt Lake

I have to tell you right now that this blog post will in no way do The Train Shoppe the justice it deserves. The Train Shoppe is hands down one of the coolest places in Salt Lake!

The Train Shoppe on State Street may just appear to be be a model train retail store but it is much more than that. First off, the store is full of all things model railroad related and the employees and owners really know their stuff. They are so helpful!

In a large backroom behind the shop sits the town of Salty Gulch. The town has private party rooms that can be rented for a minimal price, they have a snack bar saloon, interactive trains and a miniature train ride. The indoor western town is amazing!

The 1/8th scale miniature train ride runs through the Salty Gulch mine and right now is decorated for Christmas. Each rider gets a toy gun for the interactive shooting gallery. The train runs every Saturday and during most school breaks. Check out the schedule on the Train Shoppe website or Facebook page.

The interactive trains are quarter operated on little touch screens that are easy to use. You can control the speed, whistle, headlights and horn. You can even find fun seasonal layouts.

One of the cool things about The Train Shoppe are the private party room rentals. The prices are great and you can choose from two themed party rooms, The Salty Gulch Hotel or The Salty Gulch Jail. You can even rent the whole town if needed. There are no hidden costs (like paying to bring in outside food) and you even get discounted train ride tickets. Each room comes with a birthday banner too.

We recently had a birthday party at The Train Shoppe and were so impressed with everything and know you will be too!
